News & Issues: Open Data
AUGUST 2010
OPEN DATA
Open Data is a
movement gaining international momentum. It means government removes as
many barriers as possible to access of information created and managed by the
city or other level of government. Data that must respect privacy, legal or
other concerns will continue to be protected. Creative, technologically
savvy individuals and corporations use this data to create applications,
research and other innovative data management systems.
An online forum will be set up to
facilitate ongoing discussion and information sharing. To read the full report

I am
supportive of allowing access to public information that does not violate our
privacy legislation.
